Sugar Daddy Decay

Well, quite
Having made their mark in New York, Sugar Daddy parties may now be crossing the Atlantic to the UK. With more and more school girls stating their ambition is to have a WAG lifestyle it’s arguable that the UK might already have a form of Sugar Daddy parties. It’s just the method involves going to posh bars on the off-chance rather than a party where everyone knows exactly what’s going on. You only have to watch BBC 3’s Cherry’s Cash Dilemmas to see the money young women are spending in a bid to bag a rich guy.

The way the parties in the US however is like this; rich men gather at a party where young women outnumber them. Organiser Alan Schneider opens the party with this line “Men, you know what to do. Women, receive their generosity. We will touch you with passion and fire all night long.” I will give you a moment to unclench before we try and work out what the heck that’s even supposed to mean…

Ok A) these men are attending a dating party in the hope of meeting a young lady. If we’re talking about knowing ‘what to do’ in real life then no, I don’t think they do. B) ‘Women, receive their generosity’ does this remind anyone else of when you forgot yourself as a child when leaving a friend’s house and your parent would prompt you with, ‘What do you say?’ Ladies! Remember your manners! C) ‘Passion and fire all night long’, I just, I don’t even know. I can’t even bring myself to make some glib ‘you can get a cream for that you know’ comment, it’s so unsettling. Apart from I just did.

Party organiser Alan Schneider is quick to dismiss any suggestion of prostitution. Yes it’s an arrangement but not that kind of arrangement. "It's an understanding between both parties as adults to move forward at an introductory level that there's going to be compensation.” Compensation of around $500 per date. Well that sounds usual.

As to why grown women are looking for such compensation, Schneider, himself a sugar daddy, blames the current economic situation, "Traditional relationships of men being the provider and women being the caretaker of the family are coming back now," he says. "They're coming back because of the economy."

Not all of the women at the events would agree with him. For some women, it’s a chance to climb the social ladder. One party attendee, Monique, told the BBC "It's not just about the money, it's about what a successful person can do for you. It's almost an inspirational thing."

I know I find free stuff inspirational. I just wish these young women would take more inspiration from these women, amongst many others.
