About Squeamish

Squeamish Bikini is the result of an unusually productive Kate and Louise ranting session.

This site was borne from the frustration that in 2011 we were still struggling to find anywhere online where we could hang out. All we wanted was a feminist space where it was taken as a given that women are not children and do not need to be talked down to, women can be wildly irresponsible, clever, funny and shocking (but not in a Jan Moir way), and might even have a few interests outside of celebrity gossip. Could we find one? Not one that's aware Scotland isn't a suburb of England, and Wales isn't a creature that swims in the sea, no. So we made one.

We want this site to be the place you go to do the internet equivalent of crazy dancing to your favourite album alone in your room.

Squeamish Bikini has been designed to entertain, reassure and celebrate all you crazy diamonds. We don’t give a fig about your gender. We just want you to have fun, comment and send us content.

We think you're tremendous and, once armed with proper grammar, unstoppable.

About us

Squeamish Kate (editrix) resides in the world inside her head created from mishearings and misunderstandings. She yearns for a pug and spends her time writing, drawing, walking at a fast pace and trying to make yellow happen. You can sometimes find her moonlighting on XOJane.co.uk being controversial. 

Squeamish Louise is a London-based redhead. She has a limited number of habitats and if you can't find her on the beach, in the kitchen or geeking out over a new board game or episode of Doctor Who she will probably be in the pub. Where she'll almost certainly start ranting, eat some chips and then fall over.

Squeamish Nicola is a London based film fanatic. Not usually seen out on the streets she stays tucked up inside her flat knitting wonky scarves and watching films on a wonderful projector she didn't pay for.

Gareth is our go-to guy for all things geek based. Gareth isn't really that squeamish, just a little queasy at times.

Becky Shepherd is a sweary Essex bird with no sense of personal space. She writes stuff down mainly so her loved ones don't have to listen to it. Loves new wave and busting balls. Holds everything else with contempt. She tweets via @Becky_Shep, most of which are Not Safe For Anyone.
