Strawberry nails forever

After the Fish Pedicure feature a ton of you wrote in asking about my strawberry toenail art. Ok no one did but I am sure that is just because you’re all shy. And as I am such a giver here is my step by step guide to painting yourself some strawberry nails.

Step 1.
Go to the toilet. Oh you think you don’t need it? You will missy/mister right after you just got halfway through this nail art and if you smudge your nail polish on your fly/pants you won’t have anyone to blame but yourself. Also pick an album or radio show to listen to during the process so you don’t get bored. Might I recommend.

Step 2.
Remove all traces of nail varnish on your nails. Cut or file your nails so they are all the same size, I don’t want to see any elongated strawberries here. Start with a blank slate.
You can paint a protective clear first coat if you must but in 16 years of painting my nails I have never done that. And that is why my nails look like this.

Step 3.
Paint all your nails red. I used Beauty UK Glam Nails in Red.
I bought this in Superdrug where I spend a frightening amount of time. Enough time to notice that Superdrug, for budget reasons I assume, plays weird karaoke style covers of all the latest hits. Take a listen next time you’re there, that is NOT Rihanna.

Step 4.
Once your nails are dry it’s time to paint on the seeds. For this demonstration I used Stripe & Sparkle. Even the shakiest hands can use the narrow brush to dab on flecks of gold. I usually put about 7 or 8 seeds on per nail. Just touch the tip of the brush to your nail and paint on a very short stripe.

Step 5.
This is the trickiest part. The strawberry leaves. For this I used Barry M in Spring Green.
To do this you need to angle the brush so you only touch the nail with the bottom corner of the brush. This gives you a triangle on the end of your nail, when joined up they look like strawberry leaves.

Once you have done this to give your nails a bit of extra shine paint on some clear nail varnish, I used Collection 2000 2in1 Top Coat and Gloss Enhancer.

I don’t think you can get mad when you’ve got strawberry nail art, but if someone does cross you don’t give them the finger, give them their FIVE A DAY. I slay me.
