Peta treats your girlfriend like a piece of meat

I have been thinking about it a lot, and I have come to the only possible conclusion. PETA is a secret PR organisation for a conglomerate of factory farms, butchers and the dairy industry.

I haven’t eaten meat since I was 8, and their latest “go vegan” campaign made me want to buy a steak, take it to PETA’s offices and eat it. Raw. I‘m pretty sure the taste and texture would make me sick, but it would be worth it just to spite them.

I have no idea why PETA think that degrading women is the best possible way of highlighting and ending animal abuse. I can only assume they think that all publicity is good publicity. In their case, it’s really not; they get the name PETA talked about, but only attached to choice adjectives such as “deluded” “misogynistic” and “appalling”. What they DON’T do is drive down the amount of meat people eat.

They have form in using sexism to ‘promote’ their cause, but the latest campaign is a new low. “Boyfriend Went Vegan and Knocked the Bottom Out of Me” is illustrated with pictures of injured women. Because their boyfriends cut eggs and dairy out of their diets and that meant they couldn’t help but batter their partners! With sex! Tee-hee! Isn’t domestic violence and sexual abuse funny?

Stressing the sexual benefits of a vegan diet isn’t a bad idea, as they go. But why (why why why?!) would anyone decide the best images to accompany something promising to improve your badda-badda-boom would be injured women? Why? Honestly, it makes it way too easy for meat eaters to say things like “see, this is what happens when you don’t have enough iron and protein in your diet – your brain stops working.”

F*** PETA. Now go and watch this Vegetarian Society ad that was banned in the UK to see how “making vegetarianism sexy” should be done

I'm with you on the conspiracy theory. If you do wish to protest with a steak they are the only thing I cook to perfection every time.

Also peas will never be the same to me now I've watched that ad.

Completely agree, as a meat-eater PETA make me feel positively ecstatic that I don't have anything in common with them. Loathsome. Love the vegetarian ad...see where M&S got the idea from just a shame they didn't copy the sentiment too!

Yeah, as a veggie the last organisation I want people to think of when they hear I don't eat meat is peta! The vegetarian society got it right!

I am outraged, horrified and sickened. It's not funny or clever. Glad there was no link to PETA's advert I wouldn't care to add to their 'hits'. Obviously animal products shouldn't be excluded from your diet if it addles your brain into thinking violence towards woman is amusing.

I totally agree. Veganism *shouldn't* affect your brainpower, but I can only assume the people behind this campaign eat nothing but lettuce leaves and water...
