It is happening again. It's the news all those kids who just discovered the 90s have been waiting for. This week David Lynch announced with a tweet and underwhelming teaser video that Twin Peaks is set to return in 2016, just as Laura Palmer predicted, having told Cooper she'd see him again in 25 years. The Squeamish team are big fans of Twin Peaks - though some of us sensibly avoided the second series - and Diane, here are some ideas we'd like to put forward about what's been happening in Twin Peaks... hypothetical spoiler alert!
1. A chance to talk about one of my favourite 90s shows? Don't mind if I do...As someone who has rewatched the series and movie many many times (as well as reading the book and listening to the Kyle MacLachlan narrated audio book) I'm extremely excited to find out what happened to Agent Dale Cooper after that fateful day he entered the Black Lodge 25 years ago. Has he spent the whole time trapped there? Or, as perhaps suggested in prequel film Fire Walk With Me, did he ascend to the White Lodge alongside Laura Palmer? Or maybe someone found the message Anne Blackburn told Laura to write in her diary (using the time bending powers of the Black Lodge), saying that the 'good Dale' was trapped in the Black Lodge, leading to a rescue attempt sometime in the last 25 years (as planned for the aborted third series)? I hope wherever Dale is he's getting to enjoy some damned fine coffee and a good cherry pie. Gareth
2. I watched Twin Peaks and Fire Walk With Me for the first time recently. All in one go. I even attended a Twin Peaks themed film society party and, not wishing to give away any spoilers to other attendees, I went as an owl, rather than Nadine in her cheerleading uniform (oh, spoiler). What I'm saying is I now fancy myself an expert on the show and here are my hopes: Will we find out who Diane is? Will we learn what the link is between the dead and...wooden objects? Will we learn that James died a fiery motorcycle related death? We just don't know. Squeamish Kate
3. I got Twin Peaks Series 1 on DVD for my sister a few years ago and because I'm so nice I watched it all to check there weren't any defects. I particularly enjoyed the face and log of the Log Lady. While I haven't seen the second series I imagine she personified her log companion more by carving it a face, slowly over the episodes the logs true identity would emerge. I believe it will have the chiselled chin of Elvis. Squeamish Nicola
4. I predict that The Man From Another Place will have grown to new heights, surprising us all. Stilts may be involved. Also, after years spent in the red room, I think a little redecoration will be in order. Blue? Purple? No, I say periwinkle. Mostly because every time I hear the word it makes me snicker. F1Kate
