2. I'm fortunate in that I could name my mum, my sister, my aunt, all the women who write for this site as inspiring women I know. But let's not go down personal anecdote road. Instead I will pick from women you might, or should all know with a Wikipedia page. I'm a big fan of women who just do it, and to heck with the constraints of society. They have a passion for something and they go for it. I think this is hard even now to do and it's hard in all fields but I have always had the impression - considering how few women have their scientific achievements consistently lauded throughout time that the world has a hard time recognising female scientists. So here's a list of women in scienceI admire. Squeamish Kate
3. Without wanting to make anyone vomit, I can't possibly name anyone other than my mother. As my mum, she raised me and my sister to take the road less travelled, to follow our dreams and passions rather than take the easy route of uni, traditional jobs, and pension schemes. As a professional, she has had an interesting and varied working life, and had shattered a couple of glass ceilings before she'd even left her teens, despite being groomed to be a wife. At finishing school, she was taught little more than how to exit an E-Type without flashing her knickers, but two years later she was running the marketing department of one of the UK's biggest publishing houses. And as a woman she is great company, pant-wettingly funny, ballsy, and adventurous. With such an inspiring woman so close to home, why would I look further afield? F1Kate
